Special Services
Asthma, diabetes, COPD or heart conditions
If you suffer from a chronic disease such as asthma, COPD, diabetes or you have a heart condition, the majority of your care will be carried out by our nursing team. You will be invited into surgery for an annual review usually around your birthday month. You do not need to see a doctor before seeing the nurse.
Family Planning
We offer a full range of family planning services, including morning after pills and fitting of coils and diaphragms. We also offer pre-conceptual counselling.
Ante-natal and Post-natal care
We work closely with the Midwives to provide this.
Advice on Menopause
We offer advice on HRT (Hormone Replacement Therapy), including hormone implants.
Cervical Smear Tests
This is a simple test which is offered to women between the ages of 25 and 64. It can help prevent cancer of the cervix (neck of the womb). We strongly recommend that all women in this age group have this test every 5 years, unless they have had a hysterectomy. We normally notify patients of the result of smear tests, by letter, within 6 weeks.
Minor Surgery
Some minor surgical procedures are carried out in the surgery by Dr. Hunter.
Childrens’ Vaccinations and Immunisations
We offer the full range of childhood vaccinations and immunisations, and we strongly recommend that all children are kept up to date with these.
Sick notes - now known as FIT NOTES
If you are off work for less than 7 days, you should ask your employer for a self-certification form when you return to work. The Doctor will only give you a medical certificate if you are off work for more than 7 days, in line with national recommendations.
Private Services We do not accept private patients, but certain services, such as HGV and PSV Medicals, private insurance and sickness documents etc. are not covered by the National Health Service. You will be charged a fee for these, and a list of current charges is displayed in reception.
