Surgery Hours

Closed for GP and staff training on the following afternoons (from 12noon onwards). All surgeries in the Nottinghamshire County are closed on these days:

Monday to Friday 8.30am to 12pm & 3.00pm to 5.30pm

Appointments

We operate an appointment system for both Doctors and Nurses.  It does not matter which Doctor you are registered with – you can ask to see any of the Doctors.  However if you wish to see a particular Doctor, you may have to wait longer. Please call 01636 704226 option 1 to make or cancel an appointment.

You can request a telephone consultation if you wish. The Doctors will usually call you back at the end of their surgery (either late morning or early evening). To arrange a phone call please telephone 01636 704225 option 2.

If you need to be seen urgently, please ring on 704226, option 1 after 8.30am, and we will fit you in as quickly as possible with the Emergency Doctor (who may not be the Doctor of your choice).  You may have to wait longer than normal at such surgeries as the Doctor can sometimes be called out to a serious emergency.

Help us to help you.  Please only request an urgent appointment if it is a real emergency and you require immediate treatment.

 All the Doctors will try and keep waiting time to a minimum, and staff will inform you of any unusual circumstances.  Please be patient however, as there may come a time when you need a longer than normal consultation yourself.

Appointments are for one person only.  If several members of one family needs to be seen, you must tell the Receptionist who will make appointments for all of them.

If you suffer from a chronic disease such as asthma, diabetes, COPD or have a heart condition, most of your care will be provided by our nursing team. You will be called for annual review usually around your birthday month. You do not need to make a doctors appointment to discuss treatment for these conditions.

Please let us know promptly if you are unable to keep an appointment so that we may offer it to someone else.

Telephone Service

We aim to answer our telephones as quickly as possible, but at busy times you may have to wait. If the telephone rings but is not answered immediately, it means that all available staff are dealing with patients. They will get to you as fast as they can. If you have difficulty getting through and feel it is a serious medical emergency, you should dial 999 for an ambulance.  

Emergencies

For emergencies please phone Newark 704225.  Outside normal surgery hours you will hear an answering machine that will help you contact the Out of Hours Service. 

You may be asked to attend the Out of Hours Emergency Treatment Centre, where the Doctor may be from a neighbouring practice.

Home Visits

Home visits are only made if the Doctor feels it is appropriate.  Please telephone Newark 704225 option 2 before 10am if you wish to request a home visit.  We cannot guarantee that any particular Doctor will visit you, as visits are often shared out on a geographical basis. 

The staff will not be able to tell you a specific time when the Doctor will call, as this depends on how many patients come to surgery.  However, if it is urgent, the Doctor will visit the same day that you request the visit.

House visits are only available for patients who are housebound because of illness or disability.

Please remember that several patients can be seen in the practice in the time that it takes to make one home visit. There are also better facilities for examining and treating patients at the practice.
